It’s sad that restoring the United States Constitution is considered a radical idea. Chuck Baldwin and Ron Paul were the only true liberty candidates in the 2008 Presidential election. It’s been exciting to support anti-war, pro-life, pro-constitution, fiscal conservatives. Do you know how hard it is to find someone who is not a total hypocrite on the life issue? Many Republicans who claim to be pro-life support preemptive war. They claim to care about life and the unborn while condoning the murder of innocent women and children in Iraq. They call for sanctions to be put on countries. Sanctions that cause innocent children to starve to death. Many Democrats oppose the war in Iraq and value the soldiers lives but support murdering millions of unborn babies here in the United States. It’s total hypocrisy.
Most Republicans and many Democrats supported the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions act putting our Constitutional rights in jeopardy. The two parties have so much in common now I can hardly tell the difference. They both want to spend us into oblivion increasing our national debt. They have no intention of aboloshing the income tax and federal reserve system. One party wants more war. One wants more welfare and higher taxes. How about no more wars, phasing out entitlements, restoring our Constitutional rights, letting the American people keep more of their own money, and getting the Federal Goverment out of every aspect of our lives? That sounds like a good plan to me.

A year an a half ago I never imagined that I would be writing a blog with this title. I was a die-hard Ron Paul supporter till the end. I had the privilege of being in Houston last month when he announced he was suspending his campaign. There is still a part of me that dreams of a revolt at the GOP convention and the delegates will nominate Ron Paul instead but I know that is very wistful thinking.
I was originally considering not only voting for Bob Barr but actually volunteering to work as a grassroots volunteer on his campaign. I didn’t know much about him. I just heard Ron Paul might endorse him. I later found out that he voted for the patriot act, the Iraq war, and worked in the CIA for 8 years. Maybe this guy isn’t really a Libertarian.
So I decided to keep looking and remembered that during the primary season there was this Baptist preacher in Florida who was writing articles in support of Ron Paul. Come to find out he is the Constitution Party’s nominee. I went to www.baldwin08.com website and checked out his platform and was sold in about two minutes. This is the closest to voting for Ron Paul as I’m going to get. I also checked out the constitution party website www.constitutionparty.com and read the entire platform. It wasn’t but a week later that I found myself filling out a membership form and writing a check for twenty dollars to join the party.
The Baldwin platform is amazing. He’s excellent on the 2nd amendment, opposes the war in Iraq, pro-life, advocates a non-interventionist foreign policy, opposes NAFTA, GAT, WTO, etc. It’s pretty much identical to the Ron Paul platform.
Of course it’s not realistic to think that a third party candidate will win. They never get any media, have problems getting into the debates, and they have to spend an incredible amount of time and energy just to get on the ballot. It’s a good thing we are promoting Democracy in Iraq. Now they can have fair elections just like the United States.
So why even bother? One of my favorite John Adams quotes is “The duty is ours, Results are God’s”.
We don’t know what’s going to happen until it happens. There is something inside me that pushes me to keep trying!
